JOB SUMMARY

This is an hourly substitute, on-call position. Individual will report to the Child Care Manager.

POSITION

This person will provide assistance to childcare leads and provide care for children in a manner consistent with the law, state child care procedures, and NAEYC accreditation policies and goals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  1. Provides care for children under the guidance of the child care manager and classroom leads in a manner consistent with Renton Technical College procedures.
  2. Assists other staff in the maintenance of classroom discipline.
  3. Assists in implementing the planned classroom program under the guidance of the child care manager and classroom leads.
  4. Assists in maintaining health, safety, and other procedures and policies of the center in the classroom.
  5. Assists the program in keeping necessary classroom records.
  6. Helps to keep a clean, safe, orderly environment.
  7. Assists the program with the instruction in policies and procedures as related to working with work training and work study and volunteer staff.
  8. Assists as needed in food preparation.
  9. Demonstrates knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices, as outlined in the NAEYC accreditation standards.
  10. Works cooperatively with staff.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  1. High school graduation or equivalent.
  2. Demonstrated successful experience working with young children.
  3. Must be able to lift fifty pounds.
  4. Minimum eighteen years of age.
  5. Possess or be able to obtain a current first aid and CPR card, HIV training certification, and a food handler's permit.
  6. Demonstrated ability to work successfully with students, staff, and the community.
COMPENSATION

The hourly rate for this position starts at $8.07 dependent upon ECE credits.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
