POSITION

This part-time instructor will be responsible for effectively teaching Lathe & Milling Machining and CNC set-up and operation. Substitute instructor could be called to work  the following days and times: Monday through Friday from 8;00 am to 2:30 pm, Monday through Thursday from 5:30pm to 9:30 pm and Saturdays from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. This position is scheduled to begin Spring Quarter.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  1. Using lecture and hands-on individual instruction, teach approximately 15 students.
  2. Follow the established syllabus for Machining/Mills and Machining/Lathes and CNC operations.
  3. Administer assessments of students achievement to include individual assignments, projects, quizzes, and tests.
  4. Provide instruction for nomenclature, operation, safety principles, and standards of production on the following machines: manual and CNC milling and lathe machines, cutoff saw, pedestal grinder, and drill press.
  5. Teach basic layouts.
  6. Establish guidelines and manage conduct of students as appropriate for the classroom and machine shop.
  7. Maintain student records such as attendance and grades.
  8. Ability to work well within a team.
  9. Communicate effectively in oral and written English.
  10. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with students and staff.
  11. Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Four Years of experience as a journey level machinist.
  2. One year of experience teaching, supervising.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Degree in coursework in vocational education.
  2. Completion of a state registered apprenticeship program fro machinist.

COMPENSATION

The compensation for this position is from $33.95 per clock hour, depending upon education.
