The Construction Center of Excellence is one of 12 Centers of Excellence sponsored by the Washington State Board for Community and Technical Colleges.  We currently reach over 3,600 stakeholders in state, and over 370 partners in 45 states.

 What the Construction Center of Excellence Can Do --  

For Education:

The CCE works with K-12 educators, colleges, apprenticeships and private training providers who are training jobseekers and incumbent workers to gain the competitive skills needed in the 21st Century construction workplace.

  • Laying the Foundation: Construction Math introducing construction-based contextual learning in secondary math courses
  • Washington Construction Workforce Network Speakers’ Bureau, connecting industry and post-secondary educators to school activities and conferences, with member training for effective presentations and marketing strategies
  • Seminars, “industry shadows” and summer workshops for instructors, such as the Associated General Contractors of Washington Education Foundation’s Construction Math Institute
  • Program development and expansion, and articulation agreement development, including Hazards Awareness Train-the-Trainer with the Industrial Safety Training Coalition
  • Advisement and consultation for construction-related programs across the state and with 5 other states
  • Contextual linkage of academic achievement and academic and career planning through the Blueprint for Success: Construction Math initiative and the Transition Mathematics Project

The CCE acts as the state-level construction education intermediary for local and regional businesses, workforce development councils, and policy makers. We connect industry trends to cutting edge products and services, in order to meet the diverse workforce needs of business – now and in the future.

  • Construction Connections bi-monthly newsletter, showcasing postsecondary programs statewide, economic outlooks, construction training resources and industry data
  • Convener of the Washington Construction Workforce Network, a formalized relationship of all construction skill panels, the Youth Council of Seattle-King County
  • Host of policy stakeholder meetings and the annual Washington State Construction Workforce Conference
