 Child Care
RTC offers on-campus, high quality child care services for students, staff,
faculty and the local community. The center meets or exceeds all licensing
requirements for the state of Washington and is accredited by the National
Association for the Education of Young Children. The center includes a Head
Start
program for all qualified 3-year olds.
Our program is proud to be partnering with the Puget Sound Educational
Service District to offer full day, blended model Head Start in our program.
Eligibility for Head Start is determined by the child’s age, the family’s income
and need. Head Start does not pay for child care tuition, so parents need to
apply to DSHS or some other source for a subsidy. Children enrolled in our Head
Start enjoy the same high quality preschool and nutrition as all of the children
enrolled in our program, plus additional services that include health
screenings, home visits, parent education and support to access services to help
the family meet its goals.
Our hours of operation are 7:30-3:00 for students unless additional hours are
prearranged to accommodate work-study or employment. Our hours for community
clients and students who work are 6:30-5:00. We accept only full time
enrollments (five days per week).
The tuition is $48.00 per day for our toddler classes and $42.00 per day for
our preschool classes, plus a $50 registration fee (which is charged per family,
per year). Nutritious breakfast, lunch and snacks are provided at no additional
cost. Also available to ½ time, morning RTC students only is 5 mornings per
week, up to four hours per day, for $29 per half day for toddlers and $25 per
half day for preschoolers.
Did you know, DSHS may be able to help qualified parents with childcare costs? Go to Department of Early Learning to see if you qualify. Once there click on their link titled "finding out if you're eligible for child care subsidies".
We accept children ages 12 months through 5 years old. Our adult-to-child ratios
are 1-to-7 for toddlers and 1-to-10 for preschoolers.
The paid staff members have education, training and experience in Early
Childhood Education, and they are caring, dedicated, professionals. Several of
the staff members have been with the program for over 10 years. Additionally,
student teachers from the college Early Childhood Careers program are given the opportunity to work with our professional
staff. All paid staff and student
teachers have criminal history clearance.
The center provides developmentally appropriate, individualized, and carefully
planned activities to support the children’s healthy growth and development, and school
readiness. We follow the guidelines from the National Association for the
Education of Young Children (NAEYC) in developing curricula and designing
classroom environments. The classrooms and playgrounds are well equipped with a
wide variety of educational toys and materials.
