Each year the Foundation, in partnership with Renton Technical College and the Culinary Arts program, hosts several fundraisers. The monies collected from these events help support various scholarships and events around the campus. The following is a more detailed description of these events:
 

 

Annual Scholarship Dinner & Auction

Annual Scholarship Auction DinnerThe Annual Scholarship Auction Dinner’s goal is to raise dollars for culinary programs, general scholarships and other needs identified by the board. For this event, Culinary Arts students prepare an enticing selection of items displayed artfully throughout the cafeteria. Dinner guests move about the room sampling from every station. The event seats up to 250 guests and often features scholarship winners and other speakers. This year the theme was Caribbean.

Boiler Symposium
The Renton and Bates Technical College Foundations, in conjunction with their Commercial Building – Facilities Maintenance Engineer programs, International Union of Operating Engineers Local 286 and Local 609 and business sponsors, have developed the new Washington State Boiler Operators Symposium updating professionals in industry. Business sponsorship from American Technical Publishers, Inc., CH20, Inc., Cole Industries, Inc. and Pacific Fluid Solutions benefited participants and increased the dollars available for scholarships at both schools for beginning students in these specialties.

Childhood Matters Conference
The Childhood Matters conference helps to educate professionals in the field of Early Childhood Education and is the vehicle through which the Foundation is building an Endowment and providing scholarships to support students seeking careers in Early Childhood Education. This serves the dual purpose of workforce development and enhancing professional’s knowledge and the advancement of the profession. 400 educators attended this year’s conference where over 30 sessions were offered including a broad range of topics such as The Language Of Music, Room To Move, Giving Tough Feedback To People You Like, Early Brain Development, Discipline and Guidance, Taming Transitions, Children Are The Curriculum and Science Safari. Participants received 5 STARS credits -- the Washington State continuing education requirement for early child hood educators, of which they must earn 10 annually.

Culinary Arts Graduation Dinner
Culinary Arts Graduation Dinner
The Culinary Arts Graduation Dinner is an opportunity for the graduating Culinary Arts students to display their talents in a culminating 5 - star dinner. The students plan this event completely; they create the theme, choose the menu and prepare the multi-course meal. Each course is listed in the program with a description by the student who created it.

The 2011 Graduation Dinner will be held on June 10th from 6:30pm – 9:00pm. The event is full. No more reservations will be accepted.
