RTC Center of Excellence hosts construction conference
The Renton Technical College Construction Center of Excellence is planning a
statewide conference for construction industry employers, educators, and
government representatives May 9-10, 2005. The conference will be held at the
Renton Technical College campus, with the welcome and plenary sessions
commencing at 9:00 a.m. in Blencoe Auditorium. Monday, May 9, is open to
representatives from schools, government agencies, and community-based
organizations are welcome to attend. Session topics on this day include: Best
Practices from in-school programs, career pathways in construction, the “I Have
A Hammer” teamwork project sponsored through the AGC Education Foundation, and
several other interactive workshops. Tuesday, May 10, industry professionals
are invited to learn about solutions to their workforce development needs
including recruitment, training, and retention of workers. Session topics will
include incumbent worker training, public-private partnerships, green building
trends, and resolving worker recruitment and retention problems. If you would

Driving Directions to Off Site Parking for Construction Conference
To Renton Technical College Main Campus from Interstate 405
Northbound
Take Bronson Way/Maple Valley Exit 4. Then take the second of the two exits,
Renton Exit 4B. Turn right at the bottom of the off-ramp. Continue to the next
stoplight and turn right onto Sunset Boulevard. One block further at the
stoplight, turn right onto N.E. 3rd Street. Follow N.E. 3rd Street to the top
of the hill. Renton Technical College is on the left side after you crest the
top of the hill. Turn right on Monroe Ave. N.E. Proceed down to “old court
house” parking lot. Signs will be pointing the way. Shuttle Service will be
available from parking area to campus.
Southbound
Take Renton Exit 4 and merge onto Sunset Boulevard. Turn left at the first
stoplight onto N.E. 3rd Street. Follow N.E. 3rd Street to the top of the hill.
Renton Technical College is on the left side after you crest the top of the
hill. Turn right on Monroe Ave. N.E. Follow road down to “old court house”
parking lot. Shuttle Bus Service will be available from the parking lot to the
campus.
