The Work
Workers in this trade apply insulation materials to pipes, tanks, boilers,
ducts, refrigeration equipment and other surfaces requiring thermal control of
temperatures. It requires much handling of insulation materials made of
fiberglass, rubber, calcium silicate and urethane. Asbestos workers also remove
asbestos-containing materials.
Working Conditions
The working conditions tend to be in and around dust. A variety of machinery
and power tools are constantly used. Workers provide their own hand tools. This
trade has a high health hazard risk. Workers must wear respirators. The proper
