Program Outcomes

Graduates of the Registered Nurse, Associate Degree program will be expected to:
  • Provide safe, competent, effective care for individuals and groups of patients (clients) across the life span.
  • Provide culturally sensitive care to patients (clients) across the life span in long-term care, acute care, and community settings.
  • Assess and access community resources for the needs of the patients (clients) across the lifespan.
  • Practice within ethical and legal framework consistent with the licensing laws, the college "Code of Conduct," the ANA Code of Ethics, and the standards of nursing practice.
  • Demonstrate the ability to be successful on the National Council Licensing Examination for Registered Nurse (NCLEX-RN exam).
  • Demonstrate proficiency in medication knowledge, calculation, and administration.
  • Demonstrate foundational skills in health assessment and disease prevention within the Healthy People 2010 initiatives.
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal communication skills, such as: listening, speaking, writing and selecting appropriate communication methods.
  • Demonstrate effective communication, as a team member and leader including delegation of nursing interventions and supervision of assistive personnel.
  • Demonstrate organizational skills: problem solving, prioritizing, planning and goal setting.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking skills.
  • Implement therapeutic interventions using the nursing process.
  • Document and analyze assessment findings and care given in a clear, logical and legal manner.
  • Demonstrate good work ethics, i.e. initiative, dependability, and honesty.
  • Demonstrate essential computer skills to work in the medical field.
  • Demonstrate leadership skills and display the practice role of a Registered Nurse.
