Program Outcomes
Graduates of the Registered Nurse, Associate Degree program will be expected to:
-
Provide safe, competent, effective care for individuals and groups of
patients (clients) across the life span.

Provide culturally sensitive care to patients (clients) across the life span
in long-term care, acute care, and community settings.
-
Assess and access community resources for the needs of the patients
(clients) across the lifespan.
-
Practice within ethical and legal framework consistent with the licensing
laws, the college "Code of Conduct," the ANA Code of Ethics, and the
standards of nursing practice.

Demonstrate the ability to be successful on the National Council Licensing
Examination for Registered Nurse (NCLEX-RN exam).
-
Demonstrate proficiency in medication knowledge, calculation, and
administration.
-
Demonstrate foundational skills in health assessment and disease prevention
within the Healthy People 2010 initiatives.

Demonstrate effective interpersonal communication skills, such as:
listening, speaking, writing and selecting appropriate communication
methods.

Demonstrate effective communication, as a team member and leader
including delegation of nursing interventions and supervision of
assistive personnel.

Demonstrate organizational skills: problem solving, prioritizing,
planning and goal setting.

Demonstrate critical thinking skills.

Implement therapeutic interventions using the nursing process.

Document and analyze assessment findings and care given in a clear,
logical and legal manner.

Demonstrate good work ethics, i.e. initiative, dependability, and
honesty.

Demonstrate essential computer skills to work in the medical field.

Demonstrate leadership skills and display the practice role of a
Registered Nurse.
