Admission Requirements

  • Minimum age: 18 years
  • Must take the COMPASS test within 1 year prior to application with minimum scores of:
    • Math, 40-59
    • Reading, 56-74
    • Writing, 56-74
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Ability to read, write, and converse in English
  • Effective Fall Entry 2013: Completion of the following course with a minimum 2.0 GPA within 5 years prior to entry:
    • 5-credit Anatomy and Physiology course, or its equivalent
  • Nationwide criminal background check prior to admission into program (CertifiedBackground.com)
  • Medical documentation of negative TB skin test or chest x-ray examination, if there is a history of positive skin tests
  • Proof of immunizations in accordance with the Centers for Disease Control guidelines to be provided by physician or the local health department include:
    • Measles (Rubeolla), mumps and rubella (MMR)
    • Hepatitis B
    • Varicella
    • Tetanus, Diphetheria
    • Flu
  • Current evaluation by a physician or nurse practitioner to ensure student and patient safety. The evaluation should address the following areas in respect to the student's ability to perform the laboratory skills and clinical responsibilities related to becoming an anesthesia technician:
    • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds and to reach overhead
    • Ability to stand or walk for long periods
    • Absence of chronic skin conditions on hands and arms
  • Health insurance, both injury and sickness, is required for participation in the program.
