Program Outcomes
Graduates of the Autobody Repair and Refinishing program will:
-
Be prepared for employment in the auto body industry as a painters helper or a
body repair technician.

Achieve a valid industry CPR/First aid card and be aware of safety
precautions pertaining to the installation and operation of all products and
equipment.

Demonstrate the proper use of required tools and equipment necessary in the
trade.

Demonstrate the proper techniques to repair auto body sheet metal, plastic and
composite body parts.

Have knowledge and skills in assessing damage, and writing a repair plan.

Have knowledge and skills in the correct use and application of up to date
materials used in auto body repairs.

Have knowledge and understanding of the refinishing of repairs on vehicles.
This includes all stages of priming; sanding and sealing prior to final
topcoat. This also includes understanding of types of paint, mixing, tinting,
shading and application of color. In the final step students learn how to
buff, polish, and clean the vehicle to complete the repair process.

Know basic arithmetic in order to prepare paint and body material estimates and
paint formulas.

Write a resume, go through a mock interview, and prepare for employment in the
multicultural workplace.
