Program Outcomes
Graduates of the Construction Trades Preparation program will:
-
Have certification for Forklift Class 5, Scaffold User, Highway Flagger,
powder-actuated fasteners, and First Aid/CPR,
-
Use a variety of hand and power tools safely in basic residential and
commercial construction projects,
-
Read blueprints, plans, and drawings used by various disciplines in the
construction industry,
-
Measure dimensions using tape measures, lasers, transits, and other tools,
-
Work with metal safely using oxy-acetylene cutting, plasma cutting, and arc
welding,
-
Understand electrical theory, circuits, wiring, and safety,
-
Thread, solder, weld, and fit pipe safely,
-
Apply mathematics skills to construction projects,
-
Have the strength and physical fitness to get and keep a job in the
construction industry,
-
Demonstrate punctuality, teamwork, and a positive work attitude, and
-
Complete a resume, cover letter, application, and job search plan, and
participate in job interviews.
