Program Outcomes

Graduates of the Licensed Practical Nurse program will:

  • Provide safe competent, effective, efficient care for individuals and groups of patients (clients) across the life span.
  • Practice within ethical and legal framework consistent with the licensing laws, the college "Code of Conduct" the ANA Code of Ethics, and standards of nursing practice.
  • Demonstrate the ability to be successful on the National Council Licensing Examination for Licensed Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN exam).
  • Demonstrate proficiency in medication knowledge, calculation, and administration.
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal communication skills, such as: listening, speaking, writing and selecting appropriate communication methods.
  • Demonstrate effective communication, as a team member and leader including delegation of nursing interventions and supervision of assistive personnel.
  • Demonstrate organizational skills: problem solving, prioritizing, planning and goal setting.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking skills
  • Implement therapeutic interventions using the nursing process
  • Document assessment findings and care given in a clear, logical, and legal manner.
  • Demonstrate good work ethics, i.e., initiative, dependability, and honesty.
  • Demonstrate essential computer skills to work in the medical field.
