Program Outcomes
Upon successfully completing the Paraeducator/Instructional Assistant program,
the student will be able to work effectively in a school environment.
Specifically, students will be able to:

Use the skills needed to secure and maintain entry-level employment in a
variety of paraeducator positions.

Understand and practice professional work habits expected in the public/private
sectors. Including confidentiality and appropriate ethics.

Demonstrate proficiency in the use of equipment (computer, laminator, copier,
overhead, comb binder) typically used.

Support the teacher/administration in group management practices.

Perform those basic tasks and procedures that are typical of the school setting
including tutoring, preparing and distributing materials, and leading small
groups.

Demonstrate the ability to communicate orally and in writing at a level
necessary for successful employment in school settings.

Demonstrate the ability to perform math skills at a level necessary for
successful employment in school settings.

Research a variety of subjects via printed materials, electronic media, library
searches, and the internet.

Possess a commitment to diversity in the work setting through understanding and
practice of human relations and teamwork skills.

Demonstrate the ability to research employment opportunities, prepare an
effective employment portfolio, and present positive interviewing skills.
