 Admissions/Registration
The mission of the Admissions/Registration department is to serve the community
and support the connection between the educational process and a career, by
providing professional, unparalleled customer service through commitment and
enthusiasm.
Policy Change Notice:
Beginning Fall Quarter 2006, a $75.00 late fee will be charged to students currently enrolled in a program at RTC who have not registered before the first day of the quarter. This does not apply to new students registering for the first time.
Entrance requirements
Applicants must be 18 years of age, possess the vocational interest and goals
related to their chosen program of study, and are able to benefit from
instruction. Individual programs may have additional entrance requirements
related to licensure or require specific educational credentials. Admission to
the College may be initiated in person, by mail, fax, and web or through
referral by an agency.
Admission procedures
Prospective applicants interested in enrolling in a Full-Time Career Training
program must:

Complete the COMPASS or ASSET placement test. There is a $20.00 fee for taking
the placement test at Renton Technical College.
Exception: Completion of college level English and Math (College Algebra or
higher) with at least a 2.0 grade point average within the last three (3)
years. A transcript must be provided to verify course completion.

Complete the registration packet at the Registration Office.

Pay tuition (or pre-registration list fee of $30.00 if applicable)

Purchase required books, tools and/or supplies.
Individuals registering for any Continuing Education or Community Education
class can register:

If an individual is new to the college and wishes to register with the web
option, they are required to apply for admission through Online Student
Services. When the admissions application is processed, the individual will be
provided with a student identification number and PIN.

The web registration option requires that students have a student
identification number and PIN number to access web registration.

Pay tuition at the time of registration

Purchase required books, tools and/or supplies.
Individuals registering for Adult Basic Education
or GED classes:

Must complete a registration form
-
Pay a $25.00 quarterly fee.

Must be 18 years of age or older. Individuals under age 18 must have a
completed high school release form.

No placement test is required.
Individuals registering for English as a Second
Language classes:
-
Complete a registration form to be placed on pre-registration list if
applicable..

Take a CASAS test to determine appropriate level.

Pay a $25.00 quarterly fee when notified to start classes.
Tech Prep students:

Individuals wishing to enroll under Tech Prep guidelines, register through the
South King County Tech Prep Consortium.
Apprenticeship programs
Individuals wishing to enroll in various apprenticeship programs offered at
Renton Technical College must enroll directly through the specific
apprenticeship program.
All checks and money orders must be payable to Renton Technical College.

Please note that all tuituion refunds are made in accordance with the College's Institutional Tuition Refund Policy
