Clock to Credit Hour: Reminders & Tips
Plan ahead. Students
are expected to have sufficient funds for start-up costs such as
books and supplies or required tools. This can frequently cost
$400 or more depending on your program of study. Loan funds can
assist with high tool costs, but the first disbursement cannot
be released until you have completed the first 30 days of
classes.
If you add classes, you may owe
additional tuition. You are responsible for reviewing your class
schedule and paying any additional charges promptly to avoid
being dropped for non payment.
If you do not pay your portion
of tuition and are dropped from classes, there is no
guarantee that you will be able to get back into the same
classes as other students may have filled the class in the
meantime.
You are expected to attend all classes
for which you receive aid. There are serious consequences if you
do not attend. Read and understand the Satisfactory Academic
Progress Policy for financial aid recipients. (See enclosure.)
Preparatory coursework: A
student not enrolled in a degree or certificate program is
eligible for Federal Stafford and PLUS loans for up to one year
if he/she is taking coursework necessary for enrollment in an
eligible program, such as taking pre-requisites for Practical
Nursing program.
Managing money wisely is especially
important for a student on a tight budget. Having a budget will
help you use your aid dollars wisely and assure adequate
resources while in school.
Notify us immediately if you change
your address or phone number. If we need to reach you
regarding your aid and cannot reach you, your aid could be
delayed until you contact us.
Keep your receipts and record
of the amounts that you receive in grants and scholarships. The
dollars you receive in grants and scholarships that exceed the
cost of tuition, books and supplies are taxable.
Transfer of aid. Financial aid is
not transferable from one college to the next. If you are
planning to transfer you must contact the school you are
transferring to and inquire about their application process.
Ask questions whenever you are in
doubt. Keep us informed of any new developments or changes that
you made. If you fail to inform us that you have changed
programs or left school, you could incur substantial repayments
and the loss of future financial aid eligibility.
Most questions can be answered at the counter. Questions that
require more time or are of confidential nature are best handled
by making an appointment.
Remember to re-apply for financial aid
every year in January. Apply early! Make the priority deadlines
for maximum funding your priority as well!
Keep this web site bookmarked and the information you received with your
application packet for future reference.
