WorkFirst for TANF Recipients
The WorkFirst Team at Renton Technical College matches your career interest with
intensive training programs available at our campus. “Intensive” means that
training mirrors the workplace. Most classes are at least 6 six hours per day.
These programs include:
Customized Job Skill Training: 21 weeks or less
Job Skills for Trade and Industry
Interested in construction or manufacturing or maintenance? Attend a special
orientation that is every Monday at 10 a.m. in Building L. To sign-up or find

WorkFirst Financial Aid pays for tuition, books, and fees.
Note: it is required to apply for PELL and State Needs grants if your program is
longer than one quarter (360 hours).
*Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) refers to parents who receive
cash assistance from the Washington State Department of Social and Health
Services (DSHS).
How to apply
Step 1
Attend a TANF/WorkFirst Orientation. Every Wednesday at 1 p.m. sharp.
Located in Campus Center/ Dr. Robert Roberts Building on the south end of the
second floor in Student Services, room I 227.
Bring an RA or RZ referral from your DSHS case manager or Employment Security
counselor.
