Graduation

Commencement Ceremony:

Renton Technical College’s graduation is held on the last day of Summer Quarter in August. The ceremony begins at 7:00 p.m. and the location will be announced prior to the graduation ceremony.

Graduation is a cap and gown affair. If you are eligible to attend graduation you will need to purchase a cap and gown from the RTC Bookstore. The College gives each graduate four free announcements and they may be picked up from the Student Services desk. Additional announcements are available at the bookstore in packets of four.

When to Apply:

You should apply early! Certificate and Degree Applications must be submitted to Registration the first week of the quarter you are scheduled to complete. *For students completing summer quarter, applications are due the first week of spring quarter.


How to Apply:

If you are earning a certificate, complete the Certificate Application and submit it to the Registration office.

If you are earning a degree, complete the Degree Application and submit it to the Registration Office.

*If you are earning both a certificate and a degree please submit one of each form.

*Failure to submit your application on time may result in your name being omitted from the graduation program.

*You can submit your request electronically online by clicking the “SUBMIT” button at the bottom of the form. You will receive a response from the Credentials Evaluator acknowledging that your request was received.


What Happens After You Apply:

The Credentials Evaluator will review your coursework and post your certificate and/or degree once all final grades are posted to your transcript.


How to Graduate with Honors:

To earn graduation with honors, your college level GPA must be 3.70 or higher. For those who have not yet graduated and want to participate in commencement, the college level GPA will be determined at the end of spring quarter for purposes of the commencement ceremony.


How to Receive Your Certificate and/or Degree:

Your certificate and/or degree will be posted to your transcript after final grades are posted to your transcript.

Your certificate and/or degree will be mailed to you approximately 4 to 6 weeks after it is posted.

If you need proof of your completion for a job application, entrance to another college or funding agency you may order an Official Transcript once the completion is posted.

*Students with outstanding debts will not receive their certificate/degree until the debt is cleared.


How to Obtain a Replacement Certificate and/or Degree:

Complete the Certificate Application and/or the Degree Application and submit it to the Registration Office.
