Accomplishments
The
Construction Center of Excellence is one of 11 Centers of Excellence
sponsored by the Washington State Board for Community and Technical Colleges.
We currently reach over 4,000 stakeholders in Washington state, and over 370
partners in 45 states.
What the Construction Center
of Excellence Can Do --
For Education:
The CCE works with K-12 educators, colleges, apprenticeships and private
training providers who are training jobseekers and incumbent workers to gain
the competitive skills needed in the 21st Century construction
workplace.

Laying the
Foundation: Construction Math,
introducing construction-based contextual learning in secondary
math courses
-
Washington
Construction Workforce Network Speakers’ Bureau,
connecting industry and post-secondary educators to school activities
and conferences, with member training for effective presentations and
marketing strategies

Seminars, workshops, conferences and outreach events for teachers,
counselors and school administrators such as:

Co-sponsor with Associated General Contractors Education
Foundation and Pierce County Career Connection to offer Construction
Math Toolbox workshops throughout the state.
- Convene
and support Pathways to Apprenticeship events around Washington
State.

Organize green building/sustainability workshops throughout the state to
introduce teachers to concepts that can be integrated into middle and
high school curricula and to educate incumbent workers in the
construction industry

Program development and expansion, and articulation agreement

- Advisement and consultation for construction-related programs across the
state

Contextual linkage of academic achievement and academic and career
planning through the
Blueprint for
Success: Construction Math
initiative and the Transition Mathematics Project
- Convene
the Green Building Education Group to identify and define green building
and sustainability training needed to provide students and incumbent
workers with the knowledge they need to be competitive in the
construction workforce
For Businesses, Labor,
and Workforce Development Organizations:
The CCE acts as the state-level construction education intermediary for
local and regional businesses, workforce development councils, and policy
makers. We connect industry trends to cutting edge products and services, in
order to meet the diverse workforce needs of business – now and in the
future.

highlight local training programs, industry leaders, professional
organizations, and to bring awareness of the Construction Center of
Excellence's role as a resource to the community
