This cloze exercise was developed
for the ESL for the Trades class at RTC.
It is based on information in the video / DVD, That’s How We Build a House, published by Spots Video, Inc. Chicago
IL (www.spotsvideo.com). According to the publisher, permission is
given to exhibit the program in libraries and schools.
Machine
Technology
These notes were taken by the
Trades ESL instructor during a tour of the Machine Technology program with the
instructor of that program, Francisco Martinez.
The notes were handed out to the students and used to review the Machine
Technology program and related ideas and vocabulary.
The notes include additional
information about mills and lathes from the American Machine Tools website. Links to the website are included in the
notes. This can be used as an example of
how to use the Internet to find information.

homework and reviewed in class. It
covers material from the syllabus and That’s
How We Build a House video / DVD. In
addition to the reading and writing involved in completing the crossword, this
type of activity also provides opportunities for speaking and listening
practice, as well as a review of key concepts.
