Speaker Biographies
Keynote Speaker, Yancy Wright, LEED AP BD+C, Director,
Sellen
Sustainability
In the last decade,
Yancy has swiftly become a sought-after consultant, panelist and
educator. Known for
his collaborative approach to finding better ways to design and
build, Yancy has helped identify strategies to achieve and
exceed sustainable goals on 30 LEED projects for Sellen
Construction, ranging from the 875,000 sq ft Bill & Melinda
Gates Foundation to the 85,000 sq ft Student Union Renovation at
Pacific Lutheran University.
His dedication to systematically influencing organizational
change in the construction industry has resulted in him
authoring curriculum that brings relevance to the “building”
part of the green building movement and the development of
construction industry metrics to measure environmental impact
reductions.
Yancy has worked for Sellen Construction for nearly 7 years.
He earned his B.A. and M.A. degree in architecture from
the University of Idaho and finished with Pennsylvania State
University in Rome, Italy. In 2008, he served on Washington
State Governor Gregoire’s Climate Action Committee.
He’s teaching a “Green Collar Job” curriculum at Seattle
Vocational institute, and he is a current board member of the
Cascadia Region Green Building Chapter.
Kinley Deller,
King County GreenTools.
Kinley offers over 12 years experience in the waste reduction
field. He is an
expert in deconstruction techniques and practices, and has been
instrumental in promoting the concept of design for disassembly
to maximize the potential for future building reuse.
King County GreenTools provides construction related
waste reduction and recycling assistance to project managers,
contractors, architects, and developers for the King County
GreenTools program.

Perry England,
Vice President, Building Performance, MacDonald-Miller, Facility
Solutions.
Perry has over 25 years of experience encompassing the pursuit
and execution of lifecycle-based delivery models for the
finance, design, construction, ownership, operation and
maintenance of public and private buildings – both new and
existing.
Most recently, Perry has been a crusader for alternative
delivery methods that motivate the public and private industry
to deliver buildings with a lifecycle performance assurance
guarantee. His focus at MacDonald-Miller involves helping
building operators and owners identify low cost improvements to
save energy, improve comfort, and extend the life expectancy of
equipment while achieving operational excellence.

Sandy Howard,
Sustainability Strategist, City of Seattle.
Sandy has worked at the Department of Planning and Development
for 20 years. As
sustainable systems strategist on the City Green Building team,
she works to translate green building policies into functioning
programs. Sandy has a Master’s degree in City Planning and MBA
certificates from Bainbridge Graduate Institute (BGI).
She has over 10 years experience as a Land Use Planner,
and managed Seattle's land use program for nine years.
At BGI, she learned about systems thinking, sustainable
business, and how to be an innovative entrepreneur. She applies
her planning and systems knowledge to development of permitting
programs, responses to climate initiatives and interconnecting
the business units in Operations.
Sandy is a 15-year member of the American Institute of
Certified Planners (AICP) and a LEED accredited professional.

Bill Karman,
Account Manager,
Airtech Advanced Materials Group.
Bill has over 20 years in the composites industry.
Formerly employed by various local aerospace companies,
Bill earned his engineering degrees from Washington State
University. Airtech
is the world’s premier manufacturer
of composite processing goods and tooling supplies.

Lawrence Potvin,
Vice President, NewWood Manufacturing, Inc.
Larry is the Vice President for Sales and Marketing of NewWood,
a world class manufacturing organization focused on the creation
of modern building materials utilizing post-consumer and post
industrial waste stream components.
He joined NewWood in
September 2010, prior to
NewWood receiving initial capitalization as a start up business.
Prior to joining NewWood, Mr. Potvin held numerous senior
management positions in sales and marketing, most recently with
Trespa North America, a manufacturer of architectural grade
panels for exterior rain screen cladding.
Mr. Potvin has extensive experience with sales management
with the lumber/building materials and retail home center
channels.

Barbara
Jean Walsh,
Professional BoatBuilder.
Barbara Jean has been involved in the marine industry since
1988. She is in charge of e-learning for
Professional BoatBuilder
magazine. In this
session, Barbara Jean will lead the group through a series of
interactive exercises designed to introduce the audience to the
most current e-learning and online training techniques and
venues.
