OBJECTIVE: This course enables student to develop their basic employment skills to levels to allow them to function successfully in a professional environment. Emphasis is on human relations skills, business leadership, business ethics, office safety and job search skills.

    10% late fee

TIMELINESS: Being on time is important on the job and in this class.

 

OTHER: Food or drink – not allowed per campus policy

CLASSROOM BEHAVIOR:    As much as possible, you will be treated as though you are an employee; therefore, our expectations are that you conduct yourself in a professional manner. Examples of inappropriate (unprofessional) and unacceptable behavior include: talking during presentations or class work time, tardiness, putting your head down on the desk, putting your feet up on tables or chairs, sleeping, working on non-class assignments, e-mailing, surfing the internet, using inappropriate language, and not being attentive.

 

Course Competencies

1.    Demonstrate understanding of and ability to follow common safety practices and procedures in the workplace in compliance with OSHA and WISHA standards

2.    Describe an effective resume, reference list, employment application, and related correspondence per accounting standards and 100% English standard.

3.    Prepare an effective resume, reference list, employment application, and related correspondence per accounting standards and 100% English standard.

4.    Demonstrate successful interviewing techniques, employment applications to business standards.
