OBJECTIVE:   This is a lab course in the fundamentals of the QuickBooks Pro 2005 computerized accounting software.  Through a detailed practice problem and a comprehensive project, you will experience and learn the fundamentals of a computerized accounting system using QuickBooks Pro 2005. 
  

MAKEUP POLICY: 

Missed Assignments/Quizzes - “no” all assignments must be complete to pass this course                    

MISSING TIME:   Some time can be made up for Financial Aid attendance purposes (see instructor)

TIMELINESS:   Being on time is important on the job and in this class. Not only is tardiness disruptive to the classroom, the skills and habits you develop now will directly affect your future employability. The two most commonly asked questions by potential employers concern attendance and attitude!

DISABILITY: If you are a student that has a mental or physical disability that substantially limits your ability to learn, it is recommended that you contact the Special Populations counselor in Student Services, Bldg I Room 225. The information acquired during a visit with the Special Populations Counselor is confidential and could be used to help you succeed in your program. This class is a “web-enhanced” course. You will get your assignments on the internet. Although you can work at your own pace to some extent, you can only work as fast as information is given. For example, you will not be able to work on week #2 assignments until week #2 because they will not be released on the internet until week #2.

Course Competencies

1.    Using the QuickBooks Pro accounting application, create a retail company, enter purchases, sales, various other transactions, and payroll to record a variety of transactions including adjusting, closing and reversing entries. 100% accuracy required.

2.    Prepare financial statements and other applicable accounting reports using QuickBooks.

3.   Prepare Form 940, Form 941, & W-2’s using QuickBooks Pro

4.    Integrate general ledger data with Excel and Word to prepare professional reports.

Homework – Although you are encouraged to work with other students to complete projects, all work is to be yours. Copying files from another student will be considered “cheating” and will result in a “no grade”. All QuickBooks work must be completed in an Accounting Program computer lab.
