Program Outcomes
Graduates of the Accounting Clerk program will:
-
Possess the skills needed to secure and maintain entry-level employment as
accounting clerks, accounts receivable/accounts payable clerks, and payroll
clerks.

Understand and practice professional work habits expected in the accounting
field, including confidentiality and accounting ethics.

Be able to correctly prepare general journal entries according to GAAP
(“Generally Accepted Accounting Practices”).

Demonstrate proficiency in using computer hardware and software, including MS
Word and MS Excel.

Perform those basic office tasks and procedures that are typical in entry-level
accounting positions.

Be able to research business and employment information via printed materials,
electronic media, and the Internet.

Demonstrate the ability to communicate orally and in writing at a level
necessary for successful employment in the accounting field.

Demonstrate mathematical skills essential to employment in the accounting
field.

Demonstrate critical thinking skills needed to prioritize, anticipate and
analyze problems, and to evaluate and implement solutions.

Possess a commitment to diversity and enhanced employability through the
understanding and practice of human relations and teamwork skills.

Demonstrate the ability to research employment opportunities, prepare an
effective employment package, including resume, and present oneself positively
in a job interview.
