Program Outcomes
Graduates of the Ophthalmic Assistant program will be able to:
-
Obtain employment in a variety of eye-care settings.

Display professionalism in their appearance, job performance, and ability to
work as a team member.

Pass the national JCAHPO Ophthalmic Assistant Certification Exam with 80% or
better.
-
Identify anatomy and common diseases and disorders of the eye, orbit, and
adnexa.

Practice within the professional and legal parameters of an Ophthalmic
Assistant.
-
Follow the processes and perform the duties for clinical support.
-
Perform patient screening and proper documentation with understanding of
medical terminology, acronyms, symbols, and abbreviations.
-
Provide patient services, including education and current community resource
information.
-
Identify and access professional organizations and continuing educational
resources.
