To Live and Dine in L.A.: Menus and the Making of the Modern City. By Josh Kun. Call number:647.9579494 KUN-J 2015
This book is based on local menus collected by the Los Angeles Public Library. It looks at the history of and culture of food and restaurants in Los Angles, including everything from 1875 bills of fare from Don Mateo Keller, to 1990's menu from the Pacific Dining car. What surprised me? Apparently enough people liked calves liver and bacon for breakfast that it was included on one 1927 menu (page 151.)
