Status Update: Again, everything at RTC remains the same as it was yesterday. We have no reported COVID-19 cases, and we are maintaining our operations while implementing social distancing practices and behaviors. We are actively winding up the winter quarter and developing new ways to do our work, and we keep planning for the start of Spring Quarter on April 13. There are still a number of details to work out to in order to provide the best service to our students and employees. I thank you for your patience as this complex process occurs.
A few highlights from the day: At this afternoon’s meeting, the Board of Trustees awarded tenure to seven fantastic members of the faculty: Ryan Hoaglin, Lea Hoffman, Melvin Hortman, Batholomew Kimani, Huma Mohibullah, David Schoenmakers, and Travis Spaniel. This is a well-deserved honor and we are fortunate to add each of these instructors to the ranks of tenured faculty. Also, I enjoyed a walk in the sun and into a number of our instructional labs and the LRCC this morning. It was wonderful to observe students, faculty, and staff engaged in the work of the College while we also adapt to our public health crisis. As I wrote last night, I am honored to work in such a community.
Telework Planning: For staff developing plans to work remotely, be on the lookout for an email from Vice President of Human Resources, Lesley Hogan, on “Telework Etiquette.”
