Renton Technical College Library is closed Friday, March 20, until further notice.

Information on the Campus Closure

RTC Library staff will not be on campus to process library materials until the campus reopens. There will be no overdue fees for any library materials not returned during the campus-wide closure.

How to Check Out Books from RTC Library, Fall Quarter 2020 

Submit a Library Resources Pick up request form to the library. (Reserve collection books check out for one week. Regular collection books and videos check out for two weeks.) You can also request that we mail out the textbook to you, but this takes longer. If you are in a hurry, you may want to pick up the text at the library instead.

You will get a response within two business days telling you if the item is available. 

If the item is available, we will contact you to ask when, within our pick-up window, you want to come and pick up the book. The pick-up windows are:  

  • Weeks 1-2 (Sept 21 – Oct 2) Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.  
  • Weeks 3-11 (Oct  5 – December 10) Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. 

When you arrive on campus at the scheduled time, contact the library by phone (425) 235-2331 or text (425) 336-2764.  We will bring the item/s downstairs to the main entrance of the C building. If you don't pick up the item within two days, it will be checked out to the next student waiting. 

When you return the item, deposit it in the book drop outside the C Building. This can be done 24 hours a day. (The item will then be quarantined for four days before it is ready to be checked out to the next person.)

Online Materials and Tools

RTC Library has over 60,000 electronic books on almost every subject, and countless online journal and magazine articles. You can search them all at once, using RTC’s OneSearch, or you can go to the RTC Library database page and select individual database such as ProQuest (all subjects), CINAHL (health and wellness) or CREDO (hundreds of encyclopedias and dictionaries to get you started with any subject.)

From off-campus, you’ll be asked to log in, using your RTC email address and password. Having trouble logging in? Check out the Student Email page.

Returning Books and Equipment

We have extended the due dates of all materials currently checked out until the library is open again and are not currently charging late fees. Please contact us with any questions.  

There are two book drops on campus. Both are open 24 hours a day. One is a big, steel box right outside the main entrance of the C Building. The other is a big brown box by the Bakery entrance to the I Building.
