In 2019, the Washington Legislature passed a bill requiring all colleges and universities in the state to award credit to any student who scored a 4, 5, 6, or 7 on a Standard Level (SL) or Higher Level (HL) International Baccalaureate (IB exam).
The bill also asks colleges to go back and look at the class credits awarded to students who enrolled in the 2018-2019 academic year. You may be eligible to have your credits checked or re-evaluated.
Am I eligible to get my IB score re-evaluated?
Read the following questions. If you can answer “Yes” to both of them, then you can ask RTC to look at your IB exam scores again:
- Did you start classes for the first time at RTC in one of the following quarters?
- Summer or July 2018
- Fall or September 2018
- Winter or January 2019
- Spring or April 2019
- Did you pass an IB exam with a score of 4 or higher?
How can I get my IB score re-evaluated?
It’s easy! Fill out the Special Transfer Credit Evaluation Request Form and bring it to the front desk in the Andee Jorgensen Student Success Center (second floor of Building I).
You can type in your information using Adobe Acrobat software and then print the form, or you can print the form out and write your information.
If you already provided your official IB score report to RTC, you do not need to send a second copy. If you never gave your score report to us, please include an official one with your Evaluation Request Form.
You can find more information about the course credit for each IB exam by searching for “IB” or “International Baccalaureate” on the RTC website.
