How do I know if I qualify for a RTC Foundation Scholarship?
All students currently enrolled at Renton Technical College qualify for at least one foundation scholarship and many students qualify for more than one.
I am not currently enrolled at Renton Technical College, do I qualify for a foundation scholarship?
If you are a high school student, you may qualify for a high school merit scholarship. Please go to the high school merit scholarship page to find out more. Otherwise, you have to be currently enrolled at RTC to qualify for foundation scholarships.
Your web page says that scholarships are merit based. What does that mean?
Our scholarship committee closely reviews each application received. They look at a variety of factors to determine the best applicant for each scholarship. Factors include: (1) student GPA, (2) completeness of the application, (3) the personal journey that led you to choose RTC and your program, (4) your career plans, (5) your level of community and school involvement, and (6) your letters of recommendation.
To learn more about how you can make the most of your merits, please attend a scholarship workshop. You can find the workshop schedule on the scholarship home page.
How do I make my scholarship application more competitive?
Please attend the scholarship workshops to learn how to make your application the most competitive. The workshop schedule can be found on the scholarship home page. If you cannot attend the workshop or the dates have passed, please contact the Foundation at email@example.com or at (425) 235-7867.
I have questions on filling out my application. How do I get them answered?
The best way to answer your application questions is to attend the scholarship workshops. Please visit the scholarship home page for the workshop schedule. If you cannot attend the workshop or the workshop dates have passed, please contact the Foundation at firstname.lastname@example.org or at (425) 235-7867.
My instructors/employers are having trouble submitting their letters of recommendation, what should I do? My instructors/employers gave me their letters rather than using the link, what should I do?
Please contact the Foundation at email@example.com or at (425) 235-7867. We are happy to assist you in getting your recommendation letters submitted.
The scholarship process has closed. Can I still turn in my application?
No. Once the scholarship process has closed, we can no longer accept applications. However, we do offer scholarships for fall, winter, and spring. Please check your student email regularly, we email students when a scholarship cycle opens and closes.
I applied for a Foundation Scholarship, now what?
Once the application has closed, the scholarship committee meets to award the scholarships. The scholarship committee reviews each application and chooses the best application for that award. After the committee has made its decision, we notify all candidates. Please check the scholarship home page for scholarship schedule.
The date to notify applicants has passed, but I still haven’t received any notification.
We email our applicants the status of their application. If you haven’t received an email and the notification date has passed, please check your RTC email, including the spam section. If you have checked your email account and still have not received a notification, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or at (425) 235-7867 to check on the status of your application.
Why wasn’t I awarded a Foundation Scholarship?
Our scholarship process is very competitive. We have 150+ students apply for a limited number of scholarships and there can be numerous reasons you were not selected. Please contact us at email@example.com or at (425) 235-7867 and we may be able to give you more information about why you were not awarded a scholarship and how to submit a stronger application for the next quarter.
