Students of Color Conference
The Students of Color Conference (SOCC) is a 3-day event with activities, workshops, and conversations meant to engage students
on the conference's five (5) main themes:
- Identity Development
- Awareness of Others
- Skills Development
- Social Justice/ Social Activism
- Personal Development
Students will be able to explore their identity and engage in workshops around social justice related skills and issues. SOCC has a rich history in the Community and Technical College system. Food, transportation, and lodging will be provided.
This year's theme is Rooted in Resistance, Growing Towards Liberation. The conference will be held at Columbia Basin College in Pasco, Washington from April 30 to May 2. Students interested in applying should attend an informational session.

Application Process
Students interested in attending must complete and submit the application by January 25th, 2025. The application will consist of 4 parts:
- Applicant Information
- Confidential Questions
- Reflection Question
- Community Guidelines for All Retreat Participants
Applications will be reviewed the week of Feb. 2. Notifications to students will be sent the week of Feb. 9. Students attending SOCC will be required to attend a pre-conference and post-conference session. Failure to attend the pre-conference will impact attendance eligiblity unless previously notified.
Eligibility
All students are welcome to and invited to apply to the SOCC. Students must be currently enrolled and in good standing at Renton Technical College to be eligible.
